In the first season of “Kevin Can F**k Himself,” a stereotypically harried sitcom wife decided she couldn’t take her asshole husband’s hijinks anymore and plotted his murder. Then, of course, people found out, including the husband’s best friend, who overheard a damning conversation in the season finale. So, in the second and final season of Valerie Armstrong’s genre-blending deconstruction, Allison (Annie Murphy) has to pivot a bit. Instead of killing Kevin (Eric Petersen), the new trailer reveals, Allison’s going to have to disappear.

“When I leave, Kevin can’t be able to find me. I need to be gone for good,” she tells her confidant and partner in crime, Patty (Mary Hollis Inboden). The spot shows Allison googling “fake your own death” on a library computer. Unfortunately, the system’s content filters prevent her from getting any helpful tips.

While Allison prepares her escape, Neil (Alex Bonifer), Kevin’s aforementioned best friend, remains a wild card. The trailer shows him traveling back and forth between Kevin’s bright, laugh-tracked multi-cam network sitcom and Allison’s dark cable dramedy — something neither Kevin nor any of his other buddies has ever done before — so it seems possible Neil’s antihero side will be coming out.

Allison and Patty, however, continue to be dedicated to bursting Kevin’s bubble, and their bond seems as strong as ever. “I cannot do this without you,” Allison tells her friend, “and I care for you a great deal.”

Murphy’s most recent projects include “Murderville” and “Russian Doll.” Best known for her Emmy-winning turn as Alexis on “Schitt’s Creek,” she also acted in, co-created, wrote, and produced CBC web series “The Plateaus.

Inboden counts “The Righteous Gemstones” and “The Real O’Neals” among her other credits, and Armstrong previously worked on series including “Lodge 49” and “Masters of Sex.”

Season 2 of “Kevin Can F**k Himself” premieres August 22 on AMC and AMC+
