“You don’t have to be nervous,” Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give”) assures Maria Bakalova (“Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”) in a new trailer for “Bodies Bodies Bodies.” “[My friends] are going to be obsessed with you. They’re not as nihilistic as they look on the internet.” The new couple is attending a hurricane party at a remote mansion together, and the event will mark the first time Bee (Bakalova) meets Sophie’s (Stenberg) friends. It turns out that Bee has plenty to be nervous about. Sophie’s pals are insufferable rich kids — and possibly even murderous.
The group decide to play a game, Bodies Bodies Bodies, that turns deadly. “They’re trying to kill us off one by one,” we’re told. But the identity of the culprit remains unclear.
“Bodies Bodies Bodies” marks director Halina Reijn’s follow-up to “Instinct,” the Netherlands’ submission to the best international feature film category at the 2020 Oscars.
Set to hit select theaters August 5 and more widely August 12, “Bodies Bodies Bodies” is penned by Sarah Delappe. Its ensemble cast includes Myha’la Herrold (“Industry”), Chase Sui Wonders (“Generation”), and Rachel Sennott (“Shiva Baby”).
