The long-awaited sequel to 2007’s “Enchanted” is nearly upon us. “I know that change can be scary, but it can also be exciting,” Giselle (Amy Adams) insists in a new trailer for the pic. It’s been 10 years since she tied the knot with Robert (Patrick Dempsey), and their family has decided to move from the city to suburbia. Their new community isn’t quite what they had in mind: Malvina (Maya Rudolph), a local queen bee who makes Giselle feel totally unwelcome. Their new life isn’t the exciting change Giselle had in mind. “Happily ever after, it’s not always that easy,” she’s reminded.
Frustrated with her scenery and circumstances, Giselle finds herself wishing for “a fairy tale life,” and accidentally transforms her town into a real-life fairy tale. Complicating matters even further is the fact that she’s under a curse and seems to be channelling a wicked stepmother. Her journey to the dark side doesn’t lead to an alliance with Malvina. “You know there’s only room for one villain in this town,” she tells her neighbor.
A six-time Oscar nominee, Adams was last recognized for her work in 2018’s “Vice.” Her recent credits include “The Woman in the Window” and “Dear Evan Hansen.”
An alumna of “SNL,” Rudolph is a four-time Emmy winner who currently toplines “Loot,” an Apple TV+ series about a billionaire who decides to reinvent herself. The comedy has been renewed for a second season with a premiere date TBA.
“Disenchanted” starts streaming November 18.
