Trailer Watch: Andrea Savage Is a Funny Mom in “I’m Sorry”

Andrea Savage: trutv.com

“Sorry. I forgot moms aren’t supposed to be funny,” Andrea Savage tells her TV husband in a new trailer for “I’m Sorry.” Created by Savage, the TruTV series sees the “Veep” alumna playing a comedy writer, wife, and undeniably funny mom.

The spot is full of great one-liners from Andrea (Savage), who makes her husband (Tom Everett Scott, “Reign”), daughter (Olive Petrucci), and friends simultaneously laugh and wince when she sounds off on everything from the folks who hired a model-looking woman to care for their children (“Who was insane enough to hire Gigi Hadid as their nanny?”) to her husband’s animal counterpart (“You’re like a raccoon. You look super cute, but inside you’re garbage.”).

“Andrea draws storytelling inspiration from her own life and has a unique ability to make horrifying moments somehow charming and hilarious,” said truTV head of programming Marissa Ronca when the comedy was first picked up. “We love this project and her point of view because it’s smart, nuanced, relatable, and, most importantly, funny — and the perfect fit for the type of distinct, creator-driven comedy we’re curating at truTV.”

Savage’s recent credits include “iZombie,” “Episodes,” and “The Hotwives of Las Vegas.”

Watch the trailer for “I’m Sorry” to see guest star Judy Greer give Andrea some much-needed advice about social cues and to hear Andrea tell her daughter about how babies are born. The series premieres July 12.
