Anna Paquin squared off with — and cozied up to — vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters on “True Blood,” but U.K. export “Flack” sees the Oscar-winning and Emmy-nominated actor working alongside even scarier company: celebrities. A trailer for the Amazon series shows just what Robyn’s (Paquin) job as a PR executive demands: dealing with overdoses, staging leaked sex tapes, and covering up botched plastic surgeries. “I don’t care if you lie or send innocent people to jail as long as you’re in control,” Robyn’s boss (Sophie Okonedo, “Ratched”) explains. “We are the guardians of the galaxy.”
Asked how she got involved in the business, Robyn says that it makes the most of her natural talents: “lying and drinking.”
Paquin won an Oscar for Jane Campion’s 1993 period drama “The Piano” and received an Emmy nod for TV movie “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.” “The Affair,” “The Irishman,” and “Tell It to the Bees” are among her recent credits.
“Flack” arrives on Amazon Prime Video January 22.
