Trailer Watch: Bel Powley Is Held Captive in Creature Feature “Wildling”

“Wildling”

Bel Powley wakes up in a hospital room in a new trailer for “Wildling.” The werewolf thriller sees the “Diary of a Teenage Girl” star playing Anna, a teen who has been raised in isolation since birth. Her father locks her in an attic and convinces her that it’s the only place safe from the “wildling.” “His teeth are sharp and so are his nails,” he warns her. “He ate all the other children. You’re the last one left.” It’s only when she wakes up in the ER under mysterious circumstances — and later attends high school — that Anna realizes the outside world is nothing like her father told her. Or at least it seems that way at first.

Anna’s transition to the real world is guided by Ellen (Liv Tyler), a police officer determined to help the teen and find answers about what exactly has happened to her. She discovers that someone has been giving Anna drugs to slow down her maturity. But Ellen’s investigation hasn’t gone unnoticed. “She’s asking too many questions,” a man in the spot says.

“Wildling” just made its world premiere at SXSW. The pic hits theaters April 13.
