For the first time, PBS’ American Masters series is profiling a sports figure and we are glad that they chose Billie Jean King.
The documentary focuses on King’s career as a tennis player, how she used her experience of sexism in the sports world and how that pushed her towards a life of activism for women’s rights.
The show will commemorate the 40th anniversary of King’s now legendary tennis match against Bobby Riggs and the founding of the Women’s Tennis Association.
The documentary will air on PBS stations on September 10th.
