Brenda Song wakes up in a hospital bed with no recollection of what happened to her in a new trailer for “Secret Obsession.” The Netflix thriller sees Jennifer (Song) regaining consciousness and being greeted by her husband, Russell (Mike Vogel), whom she doesn’t recognize. After sweetly re-introducing themselves, the pair go home — a remote mansion with no neighbors for over a mile — where Jennifer can recover from her trauma.
The more Jennifer remembers, the more convinced she becomes that Russell isn’t who he claims to be. The police also have doubts. “Since Jennifer had no ID, how did Russell prove he was her husband?” an officer asks. Meanwhile, her “husband” is becoming increasingly unhinged. “All I’ve ever wanted is for you to love me,” he tells her, sounding more and more like “You” stalker Joe Goldberg by the minute.
Song’s previous credits include “Pure Genius,” “New Girl,” and “Scandal.” She’ll be seen alongside “2 Broke Girls” alumna Kat Dennings in “Dollface,” an upcoming Hulu comedy created by Jordan Weiss. Expected to debut this November, the series centers on a woman who tries to rebuild her relationships with her friend after being dumped by her long-term boyfriend.
“Secret Obsession” hits Netflix July 18.
