Catherine Keener is one of those actresses I’m always happy to see on screen, but unfortunately she hasn’t had a starring role since 2011’s Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding. So it’s great to see her back in the center spotlight with the psychological drama War Story, in which Keener plays Lee, a combat photographer wrestling with psychic demons she brought back from the battlefield.

Ben Kingsley co-stars — though it’s not clear from the trailer in what role — to intone that Lee can’t stop thinking about what she saw and experienced in her line of work, while the latter attempts to help a young woman she seems to remember from a past calamity.

Interestingly, Juliette Binoche plays another middle-aged photojournalist unable to detach herself from her work, albeit one with a waiting family, in A Thousand Times Goodnight, slated for fall.

War Story is out July 30.
