Songs are “just stories put to music,” says Dolly Parton in a new trailer “Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings.” The iconic country musician explains that the songs she’s written are the stories of her life — “every triumph, every struggle, every smile, [and] every sorrow. It’s the melody of my memories,” she emphasizes. “It’s the sound of my heartstrings.”
The upcoming Neflix anthology series highlights the stories and inspirations behind some of Parton’s best known songs. Her music scores every episode, which vary from family dramas to westerns to love stories. Songs featured include “Jolene,” “These Old Bones,” and “Sugar Hill.”
Parton is an eight-time Grammy winner and received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Country Music Association Awards.
“Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings” hits Netflix November 22. Kathleen Turner, Melissa Leo, and Ginnifer Goodwin are among its cast.
