Elisabeth Moss is out of Gilead but far from free in a new trailer for “The Invisible Man.” Inspired by the the H.G. Wells novel and 1933 film of the same name, the thriller sees “The Handmaid’s Tale” actress tormented by her abusive ex, a wealthy and brilliant scientist whom she’s told is dead.
Cecilia (Moss) is skeptical that her ex actually killed himself. He left her $5 million on the condition that she’s ruled mentally competent.
In Cecilia’s own words, her ex was a “sociopath” and “completely in control of everything.” She recalls, “He said that wherever I went he would find me, walk right up to me, and I wouldn’t be able to see him.” A series of lethal coincidences convince Cecilia that he wasn’t bluffing.
Despite being told by loved ones that she “needs help,” Cecilia is determined to prove that she’s being hunted by someone that nobody can see.
Moss won Emmy awards for acting in and producing “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Hulu’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel of the same name. The series will return for a fourth season with a premiere date TBA. Moss has also received nods for her work in “Mad Men” and “Top of the Lake.” “Us,” “Her Smell,” and “The Kitchen” are among her recent credits. Her upcoming projects include Sian Heder’s abortion drama “Call Jane” and a thriller inspired by “The Haunting of Hill House” author Shirley Jackson and directed by Josephine Decker.
“The Invisible Man” arrives in theaters February 28.
