Season 1 of Viceland’s “Gaycation” featured Ellen Page and Ian Daniel, her gay best friend, traveling to Jamaica, Brazil, Japan, and the U.S. to explore LBGTQ communities around the world. In the new trailer for Season 2, things get even more serious as they visit the Ukraine, India, and the state of Georgia, where a police officer explains that there are no hate crime laws but hate crimes take place almost daily.
Back when the series first premiered, Dorothy Snarker, Women and Hollywood’s queer columnist, wrote, “What makes ‘Gaycation’ such a fascinating docu-series is… the curiosity and openness which Page and Daniel approach their travels. If you’re looking for some kind of Rick Steves-like guide to point you to the ‘best’ gay places to visit around the world, you’ve landed on the wrong show.”
The trailer touches on uncomfortable and frightening aspects of being LGBTQ around the world.
Season 2 of “Gaycation” kicks off on Viceland on September 7.
