Looks like Emilia Clarke will need to summon her inner Khaleesi. A trailer has been released for the “Game of Thrones” actress’ next film, “Voice from the Stone,” and the footage suggests that her character could use some help from the Mother of Dragons and her fire-breathing friends.
When the spot kicks off, it seems as though the film will be a tearjerker. Verena (Clarke), a nurse, has come to live in the home of a young boy who has fallen silent following the sudden death of his mother. “He saw terrible things. He heard terrible things,” Verena is told. She’s committed to helping him cope, but what seems like a story of grief and recovery quickly goes in an unexpectedly creepy direction. The boy claims to hear his mother’s voice in the wall, and according to his father, he doesn’t want Verena around. And it looks like he — and his late mother — are willing to do pretty much anything to get her out of their home. Cue terrifying footage of some of the awful situations Verena finds herself in. Whether you’re claustrophobic or afraid of heights, there’s something in this trailer to make your skin crawl.
Clarke’s most recent film, Thea Sharrock’s “Me Before You,” grossed nearly $208 million worldwide on a budget of $20 million.
You can catch “Voice from the Stone,” directed by Eric D. Howell (“Strangers”), in theaters and on VOD April 28. The new season of “Game of Thrones” — its seventh — premieres July 16 on HBO.
