Sara Bareilles, Busy Phillips, Paula Pell, and Renée Elise Goldsberry are officially “in album mode.” “Girls5eva” is returning for a second season that sees its titular girl group “hoping to becoming two-hit wonders,” and the pressure is on. “We just have to make the most undeniable album of all time,” says Wickie (Goldsberry) in a new trailer.
“Look how far we’ve come,” Dawn (Bareilles) reminds her fellow bandmates. Summer (Phillips) is less encouraging, telling Dawn, “You wrote all of the songs on the album, so if everybody hates it, it means they hate you as a person on every level.”
Created by Meredith Scardino (“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”), “Girls5eva” returns to Peacock May 5. Tina Fey is among the comedy’s exec producers.
