A trailer has arrived for one of the best-reviewed films out of Sundance 2023. Written and directed by Celine Song, “Past Lives” sees Greta Lee reuniting with a childhood sweetheart after spending decades apart.
“There is a word in Korean: In-Yun. It means providence, or fate,” says Nora (Lee) in the spot. She and Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) first met as classmates in South Korea. Their paths diverged when Nora’s family emigrated from the country. Now living in New York City and married to an American man (John Magaro), Nora receives a visit from her former flame. He can’t help but wonder what would have happened if she hadn’t left Seoul. “Would we have dated? Broken up? Gotten married? Would we have kids together?” he asks.
Lee’s credits include “The Morning Show” and “Russian Doll.”
“Past Lives” marks Song’s feature debut. The romantic drama hits theaters this summer.
