Jenna Ortega is following up “Scream” and ” X” with another spooky story. A new trailer has dropped for “Wednesday,” a Netflix series that sees her taking on the role of the iconic Addams family character. The supernatural mystery follows Wednesday’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, which we’re told “was created as a safe haven for our children to learn and to grow no matter who and what they are.”
Wednesday isn’t so sure that the Academy is all it’s cracked up to be. “There’s just something wrong about this place — not just because it’s a school,” she says. With “secret societies, hidden libraries, [and] a homicidal monster” within its walls, Wednesday is left wondering “what other surprises are in store” at Nevermore.
Ortega’s other credits include Megan Park’s SXSW winner “The Fallout” and Gina Rodriguez-starrer “Jane the Virgin.”
“Yellowjackets'” Christina Ricci played Wednesday in 1991’s “The Addams Family” and 1993’s “Addams Family Values.” She has a supporting role in “Wednesday.” Its cast also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Chicago”) and Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones”).
“Wednesday” launches on Netflix November 23.
