Jennifer Lopez has scamming down to a science in a new trailer for “Hustlers.” She tells her fellow strip club employees that the Wall Street bros they’re targeting should be “drunk enough to get their credit card but sober enough to sign the check.”
Based on a true story, Lorene Scafaria’s latest sees Lopez giving her co-workers — who include Constance Wu (“Crazy Rich Asians”), Keke Palmer (“Star”), Lili Reinhart (“Riverdale”), Lizzo, and Cardi B — giving their privileged, exploitative clientele a taste of their own medicine.
“I don’t want to be dependent on anybody,” Wu’s character explains. “I just wanna be able to take care of my grandma and maybe go shopping every once in a while.”
“Women are constantly sexualized, but when they find a way to profit from it, suddenly it’s a problem,” Lopez has said. “Strippers are painted as throwaways or background characters. ‘Hustlers’ digs into stories of their lives; the good, the bad, and the ugly.”
Scafaria’s previous credits include “The Meddler” and “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.”
“Hustlers” makes its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival September 7 and hits theaters September 13.
