“Was it real or was it my imagination?” asks Julianne Moore in a new trailer for “Lisey’s Story.” Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the eight-episode Apple TV+ psychological thriller follows Lisey Landon (Moore), a woman who is left struggling to make sense of reality in the wake of her husband Scott’s (Clive Owen) death.
A famous novelist acclaimed for his imagination, Scott attributed the stories in his novels to “visions.” “Scott had a history of becoming unstuck to reality. He called it being gone,” Lisey explains.
In Scott’s absence, Lisey embarks on a “bool hunt,” a mission she compares to a scavenger hunt. Scott and his brother made the game up as kids. As Lisey gets closer to solving the riddles and finding clues, she seems to become unstuck to reality. “He’s gone, but he keeps pushing me,” she says of her late husband.
A five-time Oscar nominee, Moore took home the honor for Best Actress in a Leading role in 2015 for “Still Alice.” She also received nods for “Far From Heaven,” “The Hours,” “The End of the Affair,” and “Boogie Nights.” “The Glorias” and “After the Wedding” are among her more recent credits. You can catch her alongside Amy Adams in “The Woman in the Window,” a mystery about an agoraphobic woman who witnesses a brutal crime. The pic hits Netflix May 14.
“Lisey’s Story” drops on Apple TV+ June 4. Joan Allen and Jennifer Jason Leigh co-star.
