Trailer Watch: Katniss Joins the Rebellion in Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 Teaser

At the end of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) found herself rescued from the fighting arena and transported to the previously unknown District 13 by her mentor Haymitch (Woody Harrelson), her ally Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Gamemaster Plutarch (Philip Seymour Hoffman, RIP). Her best friend Gale (Liam Hemsworth) informs her that her native District 12 has been annihilated, while her Games partner Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) has been kidnapped and brainwashed by the Capitol.

That’s a whole lotta drama to happen to one teenager, even a super-tough one like Katniss, which is why [slight book and possible movie spoiler] our heroine takes awhile getting her bearings. That might also be why the previous two teasers for the film have focused on side characters like Donald Sutherland’s Capitol President Snow — the power players like Snow, Plutarch, and District 13 president Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) are strategizing against each other, all eager to exploit Katniss as their own political tool.

Thus, in the latest teaser for the third film of The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay — Part 1, the camera stays mostly with Plutarch and his intonations about Katniss’ importance to the Districts’ rebellion. We see our heroine only briefly at the end, affirming her commitment to bringing down the Capitol.

Mockingjay — Part 1 opens November 21.
