A star-studded event held in honor of the Queen of Country is coming to Netflix. The streamer has dropped a trailer for “Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute,” a special that takes viewers inside a 2019 Recording Academy concert paying tribute to Parton, who made history as the first country music artist to receive the MusiCares Person of the Year honor.
Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Yolanda Adams, and more take the stage to sing some of Parton’s most beloved songs, including “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You.” “What an honor to be in this room celebrating the fabulous life and career of my fairy godmother, Dolly Parton,” says Parton’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus.
MusiCares is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing musicians a safety net of health and welfare services. The Dolly Parton tribute event raised more than $6.7 million for MusiCares.
“I am so happy that Netflix is going to be showing the MusiCares tribute to me. MusiCares has done so much for the people in this industry and continues to be a beacon of light for those in need,” Parton said in a statement. “I am so proud and impressed with all of the great artists. It was such a joy and a humbling experience to be able to sit and watch all of the great artists singing songs that I had written or had been a part of.”
Parton is a 10-time Grammy winner, a two-time Oscar nominee, and a recipient of the Country Music Association’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.
“Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute” lands on Netflix April 7.
