“I think you may be a bad influence on each other,” Letitia Wright (“Black Panther”) and Tamara Lawrance (“Invasion”) are told in a new trailer for “The Silent Twins.” Based on a true story, Agnieszka Smoczyńska’s film follows June (Wright) and Jennifer Gibbons (Lawrance), twin sisters who only communicate with one another. Part of the only Black family in a small town in Wales in the ’70s and ’80s, the twins feel isolated and unwelcome, and opt out of reality in favor of their own intricate fantasy world.
The trailer shows the pair being bullied by their peers and interrogated by educators, medical professionals, and prosecutors. We also catch a glimpses of the world through their unique lens.
Smoczyńska directed 2018’s “Fugue” and 2015’s “The Lure.”
“The Silent Twins” made its world premiere at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. Andrea Seigel penned its script. You can catch the film in theaters September 16.
