Trailer Watch: Melanie Martinez Goes to Boarding School in “K-12”

"K-12"

A trailer has dropped for “Dollhouse” singer Melanie Martinez’s directorial debut. Titled “K-12,” the musical feature is set in a fairy tale-like boarding school.

At the center of the story is Cry Baby (Martinez), a sensitive girl who shares a name with Martinez’s 2015 debut studio album. It’s not long before the teen makes enemies at her new school, and is warned that she needs to defend herself. Cry Baby doesn’t just have to worry about her peers — the principal and his staff seem to be medicating the students and controlling their minds.

Martinez launched to fame as a contestant on “The Voice.”

“K-12” hits theaters September 3.
