Melissa McCarthy is older, wiser, and her vagina is “essentially a Google” when she re-enrolls in college in a new trailer for “Life of the Party.” The comedy sees the Oscar nominee playing Deanna, a stay-at-home mom who decides it’s time to get her degree — and chooses to study at the same school her daughter Maddie (Molly Gordon, “Animal Kingdom”) is attending.
Deanna gets a college makeover thanks to Maddie and her friends, and her new look seems to boost her confidence. We see her busting a move at a club, telling her pal (Maya Rudoph) about hooking up in the library, and talking up her knowledgeable vagina to Maddie.
McCarthy received an Oscar nod in 2012 for her role in “Bridesmaids.” “Ghostbusters,” “The Boss,” and “Spy” are among her recent credits. Her upcoming projects include Brian Henson’s “The Happytime Murders” and Marielle Heller’s “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” The former is an R-rated puppet comedy and the latter a dark comedy based on Lee Israel’s memoir of the same name.
Written by McCarthy and her husband and frequent collaborator Ben Falcone, “Life of the Party” hits theaters May 11.
