“I don’t know what’s me and what part I invented,” Mila Kunis admits in a new trailer for “Luckiest Girl Alive.” Netflix’s adaptation of Jessica Knoll’s bestseller, penned by the author herself, tells the story of Ani (Kunis), a successful writer with a wealthy fiancée whose past comes back to haunt her weeks before her wedding.
The New Yorker’s life starts to unravel when a filmmaker approaches her with the hopes that she’ll participate in a true crime doc about a violent incident that took place at her high school. “People want to know: were you a hero or an accomplice?” he explains. Ani is no longer able or willing to keep her secrets buried. “I carried this horrible thing with me alone for years and it has built up this rage inside me,” she reveals.
Kunis’ best known film credits include “Black Swan” and the “Bad Moms” franchise. She starred in “That ’70s Show” from 1998-2006.
“Luckiest Girl Alive” premieres on Netflix October 7.
