Trailer Watch: Sarah Kendall Can’t Escape Australia in “Frayed” Season 2

"Frayed": Sky U.K. Limited

Despite her best efforts, the past catches up with Sammy (Sarah Kendall) in the new season of “Frayed.” The down-on-her-luck former London housewife/current Australia working girl is doing all she can to cover up her kids’ involvement in a violent crime. When she’s questioned about what she recalls from the day her neighbor Terry disappeared, she replies, “I made a big, weird speech at work where I told everyone to go and fuck themselves.” A trailer has dropped for Season 2 of the ’80s-set Sky/ABC/HBO Max dark comedy.

“We’re gonna be fine,” Sammy promises her kids, Lenny (Frazer Hadfield) and Tess (Maggie Ireland-Jones). “We’ll just start fresh back in London.” But upon returning to merry old England, Sammy discovers her lawyer is squatting in her house. It isn’t long before the family is back in Australia, much to Sammy’s chagrin. “Fuuuuuuck!” she yells once they are back Down Under.

The walls are closing in and Sammy and the family are running out of options. Not that they don’t think about other stuff, too. “Does my hair really look that bouffy?” Sammy asks when she sees a picture of herself on the front page of the local paper, under the headline “Witness Returns.”

Last year, Kendall received a BAFTA TV Award nomination for her lead performance in “Frayed.” She is also the series’ creator and writer. Sharon Horgan is among its producers.

Kendall’s other on-screen credits include “The Other One” and “Motherland.” Also a standup comedian, she has starred in and written for sketch comedy series “Beehive.”

“Frayed” Season 2 premieres November 4 on HBO Max.
