“This is a mother’s worst nightmare,” says Sienna Miller in a trailer for “American Woman.” The drama sees the Golden Globe nominee playing Deb, a woman whose life falls to pieces when her teenage daughter suddenly goes missing.
Despite being told that her daughter is never coming back, Deb is determined to figure out what happened to her. She’s unable to bear the thought that she’s “out there somewhere and she’s calling for [her mother].”
Complicating matters even further is the fact that Deb is left to raise her young grandson in the wake of his mother’s disappearance.
Miller received a Golden Globe nomination in 2013 for BBC and HBO’s “The Girl,” a TV movie exploring Alfred Hitchcock’s alleged obsession with Tippi Hedren, the star of “The Birds.” “Factory Girl,” “American Sniper,” and “Foxcatcher” are among her other credits. She co-stars in “The Loudest Voice,” Showtime’s upcoming drama chronicling the rise and fall of former Fox News CEO and serial harasser Roger Ailes. The series debuts June 30.
“American Woman” premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival. You can catch it in theaters June 14.
