“Even after everything we’ve been through, would any of us go back to the world we’re used to?” Will (Brian J. Smith) asks in the “Sense8” series finale trailer. Will and his seven fellow Sensates have been through a lot: the cluster shares each other’s thoughts and movements, a mysterious bond for which they’re being hunted.
Luckily, the other Sensates seem to agree with Will — they’re stronger and happier together than they ever were apart. “I was taught there’s something wrong with someone like me,” says Nomi (Jamie Clayton), a trans woman. “But I’m not just a ‘me’: I’m also a ‘we.'”
So, the entire cluster — Will, Nomi, Kala (Tina Desai), Sun (Doona Bae), Riley (Tuppence Middleton), Capheus (Toby Onwumere), Lito (Miguel Angel Silvestre), and Wolfgang (Max Riemelt) — decide to stand their ground and take down their enemies once and for all.
“This is war,” Sun declares.
Created by Lana and Lilly Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski, “Sense8” has been celebrated for its representation of diversity, the LGBTQ community, and gender identity. The sci-fi drama ran for two seasons on Netflix before getting cancelled. After fans protested, the streaming giant announced that the series would wrap up with a two-hour special.
The “Sense8” series finale hits Netflix June 8.
