Toni Braxton is getting the biopic treatment. The singer, songwriter and music producer is the subject of Lifetime’s upcoming TV movie "Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart," for which an extended trailer has been released.
It’s been nearly 20 years since the Grammy-winning single "Un-Break My Heart," written by Diane Warren, hit the airwaves, but two decades later you’d be hard-pressed to find a soul who couldn’t belt out at least a few lines of the iconic ballad.
"Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart" will tell the story behind the song and behind the woman whose pipes made it famous.
The trailer shows Toni (Lex Scott Davis, "ColorBlind," "The Exes") dealing with bankruptcy, medical issues and infidelity. A record exec tells her, "You don’t sell sex — you sell pain," and if this footage is any indication, there will be no shortage of pain in "Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart."
Susan McMartin ("Moms") penned the script.
The movie will premiere on Lifetime on January 23 at 8pm ET/PT.
Back in December, the female-targeted cable network promised a job to every graduate of AFI Conservatory’s prestigious Directing Workshop for Women.
