Julie Plec is back with another vampire story. A trailer has dropped for the “Vampire Diaries” creator’s latest project, “Vampire Academy.” Based on the book series of the same name, the Peacock YA fantasy follows best friends from different classes, Rose Hathaway (Sisi Stringer, “Mortal Kombat”), a guardian trained to ward off the savage Strigoi, and Lissa Dragomir (Daniela Nieves, “Save Me”), a powerful Royal.
“I want to do my sworn duty. I want to protect my best friend from danger and I want a life to call my own,” Rose says in a new spot for the series. Lissa struggles to reconcile with the fact that Rose “gives and gives” while she takes. “I can be a leader who ruled not just for the royals, but all citizens,” she proclaims.
Plec created “Vampire Academy” with Marguerite MacIntyre. It starts streaming September 15.
