“What if we turned all our fights into songs? Let’s start a band,” says Anna (Zoe Lister-Jones) in a new trailer for “Band Aid.” The comedy centers on a married couple who can’t stop fighting, so they decide to channel their aggression into music rather than directing it at one another. A collaboration may help them get through a rough patch — and what a rough patch it is. “The sensation I get from sex and the sensation I get from eating pizza, it’s, like, interchangeable for me at this point,” admits Anna’s husband, Ben (Adam Pally, “The Mindy Project”).
“Band Aid” marks Lister-Jones’ directorial debut. The “Life in Pieces” actress also penned the script. “As a writer, I wanted to explore the power dynamics in a long-term relationship, particularly the way couples fight,” she told Women and Hollywood. “At the same time, I was interested in writing a story with music at its core, so creating a world in which domestic squabbles are explored through song was a perfect intersection of the two.”
Lister-Jones has written and appeared in the films “Breaking Upwards,” “Lola Versus,” and “Consumed.”
“Band Aid” premiered at Sundance earlier this year. The film hits theaters June 2 and will be available on VOD June 9. Check out “Band Aid’s” trailer and poster below.
