TV: Jamie Lee Curtis Heads to CBS

Jamie Lee Curtis’ most recent roles have been on Fox’s New Girl (playing Zooey Deschanel’s mom) and CBS’ NCIS (playing Mark Harmon’s love interest), so it makes sense that the Freaky Friday star would pursue a larger role on the small screen.

Curtis will co-star in an as-yet-untitled high-concept medical drama from David Marshall Grant on CBS about quadruplets (three men and a woman) who lived The Truman Show by growing up on a reality show. Curtis’ role sounds not unlike Anjelica Huston’s in The Royal Tenenbaums (a character I’ve always wished had her own movie) — Caroline is the family matriarch and a high-powered doctor who heads a hospital.

Curtis has proved herself a great comedic actress throughout her career, so it should be a treat to see how her easygoing charisma translates into more serious material.
