Is the Real Housewives’ reign of terror finally over?
Bravo has greenlit its first scripted program, an hour-long dramedy from Glee and Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon called Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
Based on the Vicki Iovine’s book series, the show will star Lisa Edelstein as a fortysomething self-help author who hides the disintegration of her marriage from her friends while traversing the tricky dating scene in Los Angeles as a newly single woman. Janeane Garofalo will play her jaded friend, an entertainment lawyer who’s already been through her own divorce.
“Everybody knows this was all an elaborate scheme to get myself on Watch What Happens Live!,” Noxon joked, adding, “I am confident that Lisa is going to be TV’s next girl crush; she’s certainly mine.”
Guide to Divorce will debut next year.
Noxon is also set to co-executive produce Lifetime’s Un-Real, a fictional behind-the-scenes look at a reality dating show.
