Vanessa Paradis and Nina Hoss will portray stepsisters, lovers, artists, and agents of the resistance in Vanessa Filho’s next feature. Screen Daily reports the actresses will star in Filho’s “Trespassers,” based on the true story of Lucy Schwob and Suzanne Malherbe.
Schwob and Malherbe were “two surrealist artists, who worked under the pseudonyms Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore,” the source details. Together, they “launched the campaign of resistance against the Nazi occupation of the island of Jersey – a self-governing dependency of the British crown – during the Second World War.”
Production on “Trespassers” is expected to take place next spring, in Jersey and France.
Filho’s feature directorial debut, “Angel Face,” screened at Cannes 2018. She recently completed shooting her second film, “Le Consentement.”
Paradis won the César Award for Most Promising Actress for “Noce blanche.” The multi-hyphenate has released seven studio albums, and counts “The Girl on the Bridge” and “Fading Gigolo” among her screen credits.
Hoss’ credits include “Phoenix,” “Homeland,” and “The Audition.” She has received two honors at the Berlinale: the EFP Shooting Star (2000) and the Silver Bear for “Yella” (2007).
