Watch: ‘Hey Academy, I’m a Woman’ Mocks Male-Dominated Oscars

A new video directed by Leslie Korein and written by Kim Kalish offers a comic takedown of this year’s Oscars. As the video’s description notes, of 26 individual Academy Award nominees for Directing, Cinematography, and Screenwriting, none are women.

The video celebrates the long history of women making movies — including Nora Ephron and Penny Marshall — and ridicules the notion that women are somehow less deserving of awards by nature of their gender.

The team behind the video? An “#allladycrew” who show what it means to film like a girl. It’s amazing what some tiny lady brains can come up with.
