As we previously reported, this summer ESPN will be airing Nine for IX–a series of films about women athletes directed by women. To say that we were excited would be an understatement.
ESPN has released one of the films in the series in its entirety. Coach, directed by Bess Kargman and executive produced by Whoopi Goldberg, is a short documentary about C. Vivian Stringer, one of the most prolific coaches in the history of women’s college basketball. Stringer has led three different schools to the NCAA Final Four and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Nine for IX kicks off on July 2nd with Ava DuVernay’s Venus Vs., which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival this week. The series runs until August 27th.
