Women and Hollywood’s Founder and Publisher is set to serve as Special Guest in “Gloria: A Life,” an interactive play about iconic feminist Gloria Steinem. On November 15 Melissa Silverstein will appear in the production, which is being staged at the Daryl Roth Theatre in New York City.
Written by Emily Mann (“Having Our Say”), directed by Diane Paulus (“In the Body of the World”), and produced by Daryl Roth (“Indecent”), “Gloria: A Life” features an all-women cast including Christine Lahti, who portrays Steinem. “Five decades after Gloria Steinem began raising her voice for equality and championing those of others, her vision is as urgent as ever,” reads the play’s description. “Gloria’s life’s work and philosophy on the necessity of conversation as a catalyst for change offer us all a path forward in a way that only live theater can.”
Act I focuses on Steinem’s story, and Act II sees a special guest leading the audience in a conversation on the play’s themes and how they resonate in today’s culture.
Melissa will oversee Act II’s discussion on the 15th. The Ms. Foundation’s Roz Lee, Vice’s Ariel Wengroff, Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Julie Menin, and the real-life Steinem are among “Gloria’s” previous Special Guests.
