Zoe Lister-Jones is embarking on another epic journey. Her last film, “How It Ends,” told the story of a woman making her way through LA by foot on the eve of the end of the world, and her next project, “Slip,” follows its protagonist through parallel universes. The multi-hyphenate will star in and direct all seven episodes of the Roku series. Deadline confirmed the news.

The first TV series from “The Lost Daughter” star Dakota Johnson’s TeaTime Pictures to go into production, “Slip” centers on Mae Cannon (Lister-Jones), “a 30-something that finds herself restless inside a marriage that totally works. The series will follow Mae through a fantastical journey of parallel universes, as she enters new relationships, trying to find her way back to her partner, and ultimately, herself,” the source teases.

Lister-Jones co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in “How It Ends,” which was released last year.

Asked what needs to change to make Hollywood more inclusive, the “Life in Pieces” alumna told us, “I think it starts with those in charge of hiring stepping outside the practice of working with artists and crew members they have hired in the past. It means taking chances on artists who may have less on their resume than those in charge may be comfortable with, but also embracing the inclusion and mentorship of new voices. Many times, such chances are taken on white men, so it’s also about facing the internal biases that create such a stubborn double standard,” she emphasized.

The “New Girl” actress made her directorial debut with 2017’s “Band Aid,” a Sundance comedy about a couple who start a band to save their marriage. She followed it up with 2020’s “The Craft: Legacy.”
