Phyllida Lloyd to Direct All-Female ‘Taming of the Shrew’ for Shakespeare in the Park

Leading theater director Phyllida Lloyd will helm an all-female adaptation of “The Taming of the Shrew” for Shakespeare in the Park’s 2016 season.

Cush Jumbo will star as Katherina and Janet McTeer as her lover Petruchio.

Lloyd is perhaps best known for directing the stage and film versions of the ABBA musical “Mamma Mia!” She also helmed the Margaret Thatcher biopic “The Iron Lady,” as well as numerous stage productions of classic plays.
