Tiffany Haddish to Host MTV Movie and TV Awards

Haddish: Instagram

“Hey it’s me, Tiffany Haddish coming straight at you with some good news,” the “Girls Trip” breakout announced in a video she posted on Instagram yesterday. The rapidly ascending star revealed that she’ll be hosting this year’s MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The week has been full of good news for the recent “Drunk History” guest star. Haddish was surprised by Oprah Winfrey during her visit to “Ellen” — an experience that left her in happy tears — and Netflix revealed that it gave a straight-to-series order to “Tuca and Bertie,” an animated series that she’s signed on to voice a lead character for. Created by “BoJack Horseman” production designer and producer Lisa Hanawalt, the project follows two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building.

Since stealing scenes in last summer’s box office hit “Girls Trip,” Haddish has released a best-selling book, signed a first-look deal with HBO, hosted “Saturday Night Live,” and lined up a number of upcoming projects, including Andrea Berloff’s directorial debut, “The Kitchen.” The mob story co-stars Melissa McCarthy.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards will take place June 18. Haddish’s new series with Tracy Morgan, “The Last O.G.” premieres on TBS April 5. The comedy centers on an ex-con who returns home after a 15-year stint in prison.
