Thandiwe Newton and Lisa Joy are joining forces on another sci-fi blockbuster. The “Westworld” collaborators reteam for “Reminiscence,” a futuristic thriller that centers on Nick Bannister (Hugh Jackman), a private investigator of the mind who helps clients access lost memories. “You’re going on a journey. A journey through memory. All you have to do is follow my voice,” Nick explains in a new trailer for the pic.
When a new client (Rebecca Ferguson) goes missing Nick becomes fixated on finding her. “She’s moved on, and you should too,” Newton’s character warns. “Don’t go down this path. Stay here, in this life.” But Nick is determined to solve the mystery of the disappearance at any cost.
Joy, who is making her feature directorial debut with “Reminiscence,” co-created “Westworld.” Newton won an Emmy for her portrayal of Maeve in the sci-fi Western, which has been renewed for a fourth season on HBO.
“Burn Notice” and “Pushing Daisies” are among Joy’s other credits.
Newton’s film credits include “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” “Half of a Yellow Sun,” and “Crash.”
“Reminiscence” hits theaters August 20 and will be available on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release. Joy penned the script.
