Connie Nielsen is heading from Themyscira to Denmark. The “Wonder Woman” actress is set to topline “The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen,” a drama based on the author of “Out of Africa,” one of Denmark’s most famous writers. Screen Daily confirmed the news.
“The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen” is based on an idea by Nielsen and Karoline Leth (“Liberty”), and the latter will exec produce. Dunja Gry (“Norskov”) created the series and Jeanette Nordahl (“Wildland”) is directing.
Currently in post-production, the series was filmed in Denmark and internationally. It is set in the 1930s and follows Blixen’s “return to Denmark after many years in East Africa. Penniless, sick, and divorced, the series depicts her journey from this point to becoming a renowned writer,” the source details. “The Dreamer – Becoming Karen Blixen” is expected to debut in 2022.
Meryl Streep received an Oscar nod for her portrayal of Blixen in 1985’s “Out of Africa,” a romantic drama based on Blixen’s 1937 memoir.
Nielsen’s recent credits include “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” and “Sea Fever.”
