Emerald Fennell has lined up the follow-up to her Oscar-winning feature directorial debut. “The Promising Young Woman” filmmaker is said to be working on “a story of obsession.” No further plot details are known. Variety broke the news.
“MRC Film is the studio behind the movie, and LuckyChap Entertainment, which produced ‘Promising Young Woman,’ is in talks to produce this project as well,” per the source.
Like “Promising Young Woman,” Fennell will direct, write, and produce the untitled pic. She’s “currently meeting with actors to cast for the top-secret project, and plans to begin filming this summer.”
The former “Killing Eve” showrunner and “The Crown” star landed three Oscar nods for “Promising Young Woman,” a revenge thriller led by Carey Mulligan: best picture, director, and original screenplay. She won the latter.
Fennell signed on to pen a Zatanna superhero pic for DC Films last year. We haven’t heard any updates about the project since June, when she said she was in the early stages of writing the screenplay.
