Following stints on series such as “Grace and Frankie,” “Black-ish,” and “Odd Mom Out,” director Gail Lerner is making her feature debut with a fresh take on “Cheaper by the Dozen” led by Gabrielle Union. A trailer has arrived for the comedy about a blended family with 10 children.
While they’re emphatic about not being “a cult,” Zoey (Union) and Paul (Zach Braff, “Scrubs”) Baker are well-aware that they are “weird.” As Zoey explains, “We’re one of a kind all the way.” As much as Zoey enjoys being with her kids, there are times she struggles with the chaos that surrounds her — like when she discovers the kids having a “Fast & Furious” style drag race for money. “Oh Lord, give me strength,” she prays.
Union’s other credits include “L.A.’s Finest,” “Breaking In,” and “Being Mary Jane.” The “Bring It On” actress’ upcoming slate includes “The Perfect Find,” a Netflix rom-com from “Jezebel” filmmaker Numa Perrier.
“Cheaper by the Dozen” starts streaming on Disney+ March 18. “Black-ish’s” Kenya Barris and Jenifer Rice-Genzuk Henry penned the script.
