Trailer Watch: Gina Rodriguez Channels the “Sixth Sense” in “Not Dead Yet”

"Not Dead Yet"

Gina Rodriguez is returning to the small screen and making friends with ghosts. The “Jane the Virgin” breakout is playing another character going through some serious drama in “Not Dead Yet,” an upcoming ABC comedy from “This Is Us” alumni Casey Johnson and David Windsor. A newly released trailer introduces us to Nell (Rodriguez), a journalist who “threw away a promising career to move to London for a man,” as she explains it.

Nell eventually returns stateside broke and single. The only job she can find is writing obituaries. “I thought that I would just come back home and pick back up where I left off but everything’s changed and I feel really disconnected from everyone,” she admits. A self-described disaster, Nell’s life gets even messier when she starts seeing dead people.

“Someone Great” and “Annihilation” are among Rodriguez’s film credits.

“Not Dead Yet” premieres February 8. “New Girl’s” Hannah Simone co-stars.
