Nicole Kidman and Amy Schumer are set to co-star in a new film. “Maggie’s Plan” hit theaters just last year, but writer-director Rebecca Miller is already lining up a star-studded cast for “She Came to Me,” her next project. Joining Kidman and Schumer in the comedic drama is Steve Carell, Variety reports.
Set in “the world of contemporary art and tug boats” (yep), the film depicts “two intertwining love stories,” according to the source.
Miller is producing under Round Films, hers and Damon Cardasis’ banner which launched last May. The production company’s first release was Miller’s “Maggie’s Plan,” a critically acclaimed comedy about an unusual love triangle starring Greta Gerwig, Julianne Moore, and Ethan Hawke. Odd Lot Entertainment’s Gigi Pritzker and Rachel Shane are also producing.
Among Miller’s credits are 2009’s “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee” and 2005’s “The Ballad of Jack and Rose.”
Kidman can currently be seen in HBO’s “Big Little Lies.” The Oscar winner is earning rave reviews for her performance as Celeste, a talented lawyer who sacrificed her career to be a stay-at-home mom under pressure from her abusive husband. The limited series is based on Liane Moriarty’s bestselling book of the same name. Kidman is also serving as executive producer on the murder mystery. Her upcoming projects include Sofia Coppola’s “The Beguiled,” set during the Civil War, and a role in Season 2 of Jane Campion’s feminist mystery series “Top of the Lake.”
Schumer just made headlines for dropping out of the “Barbie” movie. She was slated to star as the iconic doll in the Sony Pictures live-action film, and according to the source, she exited the project “to make room in her schedule” for “She Came to Me.” The comedienne recently released “The Leather Special,” a stand-up special for Netflix. She can next be seen in “Snatched” alongside Goldie Hawn. The pair play a daughter and mother on a vacation that goes horribly awry. The comedy, written by Katie Dippold (“Spy”), hits theaters May 12.
