Marg Helgenberger to Play an Admiral in “Behind Enemy Lines” Reboot

Marg Helgenberger in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”

Marg Helgenberger is stepping into another uniform. The “CSI” alumna has signed on to star in Fox’s “Behind Enemy Lines” TV reboot, Variety reports. She’ll play a Navy Admiral in the pilot, which is “loosely” based on the 2001 Bosnia-set war movie starring Owen Wilson and Gene Hackman.

The Emmy winner is the first cast member to sign on to the project. Her character, Admiral Bobbie Decker, is “the most powerful woman in the military. Described as fierce but fair and a no BS straight shooter, she will do anything to keep her men and women safe,” Variety details.

The hour-long, multi-perspective series is described as a “military soap thriller,” and follows a group of U.S. soldiers trapped behind enemy lines.

“Behind Enemy Lines” hails from “Bates Motel” and “Revenge” scribe Nikki Toscano, and McG (“This Means War”) will direct the pilot. Both Toscano and McG are among the project’s exec producers. The pilot is being produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Temple Hill Entertainment, and Davis Entertainment.

Helgenberger starred on CBS’ “CSI” for over a decade, during which she scored two Emmy noms for her portrayal of Catherine Willows. She returned to the network for roles in “Intelligence” and “Under the Dome.” Helgenberger won an Emmy in 1990 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for ABC’s Vietnam War drama “China Beach.” Her film credits include “Mr. Brooks,” “In Good Company,” and “Erin Brockovich.”
