Trailer Watch: Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn Rise to the Occasion in “Snatched”

“Snatched”

Getting caught mugging mid-selfie is bad enough, but when the person interrupting your photo shoot looks like he belongs on the cover of a romance novel, it adds to the awkwardness. At least that’s the case for Amy Schumer’s character, Emily, in the newest trailer for “Snatched.”

Emily is on vacation posing with a drink when a model-looking guy strikes up a conversation. It’s not long before she has to admit that she’s not traveling with her boyfriend — since he broke up with her right before their trip — and it’s actually her mom, Linda (Goldie Hawn), who’s serving as her traveling companion in Ecuador. And Linda isn’t a Cool Mom. She’s a worrywart who insists on slathering outrageous amounts of sunscreen on her Emily and is too scared to go out at night.

It turns out that Linda’s fears aren’t entirely unfounded. The mother-daughter pair end up getting kidnapped. But they’re not going down without a fight. “I will get us out of here,” Emily tells Linda. “I need you to believe in me.”

This trailer features lots of footage that was absent from the previously released red band version, so be sure to give it a watch. This time around, you’ll see Emily admit to using the worst PIN number ever, and enjoy a laugh-out-loud moment courtesy of Wanda Sykes (“Black-ish”).

Directed by Jonathan Levine (“The Night Before,” “Warm Bodies”) and written by Katie Dippold (“Ghostbusters,” “The Heat”), “Snatched” arrives in theaters May 12.
