Good news for any feminist theater fanatics out there. Daryl Roth and Paula Vogel will both receive New Dramatists’ Distinguished Achievement Award, BroadwayWorld writes.

New Dramatists, the “premier playwright development laboratory” in the U.S., will honor Roth, a 10-time Tony winning producer, and Vogel, a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, at its 68th Annual Spring Luncheon in May. The two women have collaborated on the plays “How I Learned to Drive” and this season’s “Indecent.”

Emily Morse, New Dramatists’ Artistic Director, commented, “We are profoundly fortunate that these two outstanding theater professionals have committed their careers to this art form.” She added, “We are grateful that their paths crossed somewhere around 1997, a fateful encounter that began a sustained and fruitful relationship between an influential American Playwright and a visionary new play Producer.”

“Paula and Daryl both lead by example, and it is a tremendous honor to recognize them and their contributions to our field in the company of our vital and supportive New Dramatists community,” Morse emphasized.

Previous New Dramatists honorees include Audra McDonald, Susan Stroman, Bernadette Peters, Julie Taymor, Chita Rivera, Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews, and Glenn Close.

Daryl Roth has produced seven Pulitzer Prize-winning plays, including “How I Learned to Drive,” “Anna in the Tropics,” “August: Osage County,” and Edward Albee’s “Three Tall Women.” She has worked on more than 100 productions on and off Broadway. Roth is currently developing a new musical, “Between the Lines,” based on the best-selling novel by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer, and a film adaptation of “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife.”

Paula Vogel’s latest play is “Indecent,” directed by Rebecca Taichman. “Indecent” opened at the Vineyard Theatre last May and will go to Broadway in April 2017. She has previously written more than a dozen plays, including “Don Juan Comes Home From Iraq,” “The Mineola Twins,” “The Baltimore Waltz,” “Hot ‘N Throbbing,” “Desdemona,” and “The Oldest Profession.”

New Dramatists’ 68th Annual Spring Luncheon tribute will be held Tuesday, May 16 at the New York Marriott Marquis.
