Teaser Watch: Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith Go on a “Girls Trip”

“Girls Trip”

Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith are reuniting for a wild “Girls Trip.” A teaser has been released for the female-led comedy, which sees the pair back onscreen together for the first time since 1996’s “Set it Off.”

The spot kicks off with a montage of four longtime friends making memories and committing to making more. “Girls, you know you got those friends. The ones that got your back. The ones that keep it real,” says Ryan (Regina Hall, “Think Like a Man”). “We haven’t hung in five years. We need a girls trip.”

The foursome decide to travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. “Buckle up, because I plan on getting White Girl Wasted,” warns Dina (Tiffany Haddish, “The Carmichael Show”) before boarding their flight.

Latifah and Pinkett Smith co-produced 2008’s “The Secret Life of Bees,” which the former starred in, and Latifah exec produced “Dear Mama,” a 2016 VH1 event that honored Pinkett Smith. While the pair often produce each other’s projects, we haven’t seen them act together in over 20 years.

Check out the trailer to see some of the antics the women of “Girls Trip” get into, including zip lining, joining a parade, and getting very, very closely acquainted with a pedicab driver.

Directed by Malcolm D. Lee (“Barbershop: The Next Cut”) and written by Tracy Oliver (“Survivor’s Remorse”) and “Blackish” creator Kenya Barris, “Girls Trip” hits theaters July 21. Kate Walsh (“Private Practice”) and Kofi Siriboe (“Queen Sugar”) co-star.
