Susan Johnson’s Adaptation of “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” Goes to Netflix

“X-Men: Apocalypse’s” Lana Condor will star

YA favorite “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is coming to Netflix. A press release announced that the streamer has acquired global rights to Susan Johnson’s adaptation of Jenny Han’s best-selling novel with Lana Condor (“X-Men: Apocalypse”) set to star.

“What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once?” the film’s official synopsis asks. This terrifying hypothetical becomes a reality for Lara Jean Song Covey, whose “love life goes from imaginary to out of control when the love letters for every boy she’s ever loved — five in all — are mysteriously mailed out.” Sofia Alvarez (“Man Seeking Woman”) penned the screenplay.

The pic marks Johnson’s follow-up to 2016 Bel Powley-starrer “Carrie Pilby,” her directorial debut about an alienated genius who graduates from Harvard at 18. When we asked what advice Johnson would give other women directors, she said, “Wear blinders. Don’t be myopic. Have a thick skin but don’t lose your sensitivity along the way. And remember, always, that film is a business: be smart and worth the investment.”

Produced by Awesomeness Films and Overbrook Entertainment, “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” is slated for release this summer.
